From Ally to Enemy: XYZ Affair and A Diplomatic Crisis in the Franco-American relations, 1798-1800

Дело XYZ было самым значительным политическим инцидентом за двадцать лет франко-американского союза (1778-1798). Это была основная причина дипломатического кризиса и квази-войны в отношениях между двумя странами с 1798 по 1800 год. Основываясь на таких источниках, как договоры, монографии и другие документы с американской стороны, которые имеют отношение к данной теме, цель статьи проанализировать кризис во франко-американской дипломатии после двадцати лет создания союзов через дело XYZ и квази-войну. Исследование сосредоточено на представлении развала доверия во франко-американских отношениях, который привел к возникновению дела XYZ; дипломатический кризис во франко-американских отношениях, известный как дело XYZ, и квази-война между обеими странами и усилия двух стран по поиску мирного решения, чтобы положить конец кризису. Результат показывает, что дело XYZ было крупнейшим конфликтом в истории франко-американских отношений с 1778 года.
